A comprehensive guide to college applications, essays, and more!
A comprehensive guide to college applications, essays, and more!
With the help of the team from At The Core, our three boys figured out their college application list, completed their Common App by August 1st, and had their essay done by September 1st. They are now sitting back and enjoying their senior year thanks to getting all the hard work done during the workshop with At The Core!!
Class of 2025 parent
The college application season opens in a few short months (August 1st). However, families shouldn’t view August 1st as a “start” date. Now more than ever, your student needs direction, information, and support.
We know you’re ready to engage and learn! You can start right now chipping away at small tasks, and we have the resources to help.
We built our ultimate guide to college applications, essays, and more using our laser-focused, year-round attention on the college process. We know what your student needs to learn to tackle the process with confidence and clarity.
Yes, they can start now! Or tomorrow. Or next week. But a smart plan of attack calls for starting small actions sooner rather than later.
Includes video chapters covering all the key topics including:
Benefits to video instruction:
Your family can access this resource and get started TODAY.
Sales of the 2025 package will end on 6/30/2025.
Don’t wait. The sooner you act, the sooner your student can engage and get underway.
1) What are the dates of this workshop?
There are none. Your student can start today. Or tomorrow. Or next week. We’re not limited to a small number of dates/times which may or may not work with your schedule. We’re not trying to squeeze a massive amount of content into a single class. Your child works at their own pace.
2) Will there be a live event this summer?
Nope! There’s no need to wait for summer. Start now. We’ve crafted an incredibly comprehensive package for our Class of 2026 students that each family can use to guide them through this process–covering all the many steps to get you from the beginning to the end.
3) I thought my student didn’t need to do anything until August 1st.
For families that are navigating this for the first time, it can be confusing. The Common App platform (one application, many colleges) opens officially for the Class of 2026 on August 1, 2025.
However, did you know that there are many sections students can complete prior to that date? Students shouldn’t view August 1st as a start date. A strong plan of attack has students working on many parts of the application prior to that date. Some students will actually be hitting submit on their applications as early as August 1. Please don’t wait until August to begin to engage with the process.
4) What exactly do we get with this purchase?
Your purchase comes with an exclusive YouTube playlist of 21 video lessons–almost 6 hours of guided instruction in manageable bite-sized chunks. Plus, you’ll access our Supplemental Guidebook that’s packed with additional useful content.
5) We did this workshop in the past. How is this year different?
We’ve been holding this program since 2017. It has gone through many variations over the years. It is our responsibility to continually update the content and format of this program to be most accessible and useful to our families.
This year provides double the amount of instruction as in previous years. Let’s face it–no student would be able to sit still for 6 hours of teaching! We’re leveraging a format students embrace in daily life to bring this deeper and wider support to families.
6) What materials are included in the Supplemental Guidebook?
Our Supplemental Guidebook, as its name suggests, is a supplement to the video instruction. However, this 270 page PDF provides so much more.
In it, you’ll find a variety of exercises and guides your student will use to stay organized, track all the nuggets of information they’ll collect, research colleges, determine their college fit, narrow down the choices, have the money talk, and more.
Plus, the guidebook includes an additional 12 sections of articles covering a very wide range of college application related topics. We can’t wait for you to dig into it! And, we’ve also provided a section for parents and an appendix of additional resources you may need on the journey.
7) What does the video instruction look like?
We have found that our teens live on YouTube and other video platforms. They are very comfortable with the format of a YouTube playlist. Each of the videos in our playlist covers a separate topic presented by our expert guides–the longest being 32 minutes.
A student starts with the first video, and then they’re guided through the sequence. They’ll work on application and essay tasks all along the way. They can view and search the video transcript. They can jump to specific video chapters. They work at their own pace and on their own schedule. And they can return to the instruction again and again as they engage in application tasks.
8) Can I purchase the Supplemental Guidebook separately?
No. The two pieces work hand in hand…they simply don’t function as standalone tools.
9) Can I buy this for my Class of 2027 student?
Yes, you can if you’d like to get an early look at the process ahead. However, we want you to understand that this content was created specifically for the Class of 2026. We can’t anticipate the things that our younger students will need to pay attention to or how the process may change in the future (because some things change every year.) Be aware that the YouTube playlist is available for viewing until 12/31/25.
10) Since COVID, my child hates online learning. Is there something else I can do?
We totally understand this concern. This is different in several ways from “traditional” online school instruction. This video playlist is a familiar format for teens provided in digestible nuggets. Unlike an online class where a student may miss something, this video instruction can be returned to again and again. They can pause, complete a task, and come back a few days later.
It’s sad but true that MANY college courses continue to be offered virtually. Our students simply cannot escape the format. Online learning is here to stay for our students and for their future selves as employees. It’s efficient and effective, and we’ve worked hard to make it as engaging as possible.
11) How does the purchase process work?
Visit our ticketing page and click the green “Purchase the program” button. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase. You’ll receive a confirmation email with links to the exclusive video playlist and download of the guidebook. Your student can get started right away!
12) I have twin rising seniors. Can they share one bundle?
Absolutely! You only need to buy one bundle.
13) How does my family get started?
Purchase your bundle today and have your student watch the very first video. You are giving them the gift of knowledge that will allow them to manage this process with confidence and clarity.
14) Can you review the important dates I need to know?
This process has lots of important dates that we’ll make sure students understand. A few highlights…students can begin submitting their college applications on 8/1/25. The earliest deadline dates are in October.
Our ultimate guide is available for purchase until 6/30/25. The YouTube playlist is available for viewing until 12/31/25. The Supplemental Guidebook is available for download until 12/31/25.
15) What if I need outside help from tutors, etc.?
No problem! Our Supplemental Guidebook includes an appendix of our favorite experts and resources that you may need to access.
It allowed me to be confident that I was completing my applications correctly and helped me to start them ahead of time.
It jumpstarted my success.
I learned a lot about the application process and how to get started before most kids. I felt like I got ahead of my classmates.
It helped me feel on top of things and lowered my stress about my application.
What did we find most helpful? The confidence my daughter gained through the College Admissions workshop about the entire admissions process and what she needed to do (and by when). She didn’t feel like she was flying blind, and I never had to nag about upcoming tasks.
Go to At the Core! Unfortunately, you can’t rely on the high school to guide you in as much detail as At the Core did for us! We’ll be back in 4 yrs when our next child is ready for this process!
My daughter’s experience with At The Core has been nothing short of exceptional. She has commented numerous times that her senior year has been so much less stressful since she followed their advice.
Our family is finally finished with the college search process, and it feels great. My youngest just got into his dream school and is super excited about the fit. Both my sons attended the College Application Workshop. All the resources have been extremely valuable in helping our family navigate the next steps. Thanks so much for doing what you do.
I thought she’d been in her room watching Netflix all summer. Then she showed me her spreadsheet with admissions requirements, available scholarships, admission deadlines, which essays are required, etc. for all seven schools she is interested in. She’s also sketching out essays. We’re so happy we had her take the workshop – there is no way she would be this far along if she had not.
