Paying for College: What’s in It for Them?
Paying for college is complicated!
Paying for college…Needs, grants, merit aid, tax credits, savings, loans, etc. Lots of balls in the air all at once. Lots of things to know the ins and outs of.
Have you received one of those official looking fliers in the mail inviting you to a paying for college seminar? (We’re NOT talking about an official school district event.)
Or maybe when scrolling through Facebook, you noticed a sponsored post for a seminar that will teach you the secrets others don’t know about saving thousands on college.
When looking for help, how do parents find help?
The key is to look for a trusted teacher/trusted advisor…preferably one who isn’t trying to sell you a financial product which benefits them more than you. (Look for the small print on the company’s website.)
There is no “magic bullet” to paying for college. And, our favorite college money guy, Joe Messinger, CFP®, is who we’ve chosen to host Smart Money Moves for the College-Bound.
Joe’s served thousands of At The Core families in this program, and his aim is always to simply provide families with knowledge–not to sell you a financial product.
Being the parent of a college-bound student can make you feel a bit vulnerable and overwhelmed – you don’t know what you don’t know.
Attend anything you choose, but please remember to always ask “what’s in it for them?” High pressure sales tactics are a warning sign to stay away.
