A camera crew from 10TV was at Tips for the College-Bound in Dublin to film for a recent story on planning for college.

Listen in as At The Core founder Beth Probst discuss a book she recommends to college-bound students/families, Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be by New York Times bestselling author Frank Bruni. The book's subtitle is "An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania," but the wisdom shared in the book and the stories about the kinds of programs offered across the country are wonderful and appropriate for any college-bound student!

Tips for the College-Bound
At The Core is scheduled to deliver the popular Tips for the College-Bound at a number of venues this year. The program covers a wide range of topics that families need to consider -- from ACT/SAT testing to college applications and from high school courses to choosing a major. We recommend that parents AND students attend together -- many tips are directed at the students. We built the program as a community service to deliver a burst of information that was collected during our Guided Self Assessment work with teens, so you know it's not a sales pitch. (We hate sales pitches too!)
Smart Money Moves for the College-Bound
At some point, with every family we serve, the cost of college comes up. We cannot help but gasp (often audibly!) at the cost of college today. And, it's only going up. What's a family to do?! We partnered with Joe Messinger, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, of Capstone Wealth Partners to bring you an informative overview (and lots of details too) of college financing -- there's something for everyone. Joe is a great resource, and like our Tips program, we encourage interaction and questions.
Changing Lanes: Navigating the Parent and Family Transition
from High School to College
It is SO easy to get caught up in the mechanical/money side of preparing for college! The timelines, tasks, choices, and applications can distract us so that we don't have to think about our babies growing up, being more independent and (deep breath here) leaving us one day soon.
What will my new parenting role look like when they go? How do I plan to respond when they call home with issues? What will the college think is my role? What can I do now to help my student prepare?
Come to our forum that focuses on all this and more....Changing Lanes. Dr. Craig Ullom, former college administrator, and I will guide a discussion of how to navigate the changes ahead -- communications, expectations, independence, and so much more.

Looking Ahead: Planning for Success in High School and Beyond
Beth Probst, founder and CEO of At The Core, has crafted an evening of tips and tools to share with middle school parents (especially 8th graders) to help you prepare your student for high school and the road ahead.
Topics will include: course planning, graduation requirements, self assessment, above grade testing, what colleges look for, and more!
This session is geared for parents. Our kids get a lot of info about this transition through the school, and this session is intended to support parents. Some kids WILL come, and that is perfectly fine too!

College & Career Coffee Chats with Tolles Career & Technical Center and Delaware Area Career Center (DACC)
The pathway to college today is flexible. Families of 6th to 10th graders need to investigate all of the options, including your area Career Tech programs - they are likely NOT what you think!
Today's programs provide an extension of the college-prep curriculum available to your student with the added bonus of free college credit and industry credentials. All the while students gain an experience available nowhere else through what we like to call "super electives."
Join Beth Probst and representatives from area college/career schools for some coffee and conversation to find out more.
